Positive Behaviour Support & Resilience: Insights from Ability Action Australia’s NDIS Workshop

At ProCare Solution, we believe the best support comes from continuous learning, collaboration, and connection with others in the NDIS community.

Recently, our Founder Meryem Tawrati and Co-Founder Kevin McIntosh attended the NDIS Network & Learn – PBS Insights & Resilience Workshop in North Lakes, hosted by Ability Action Australia and led by PJ Caskey, a passionate advocate for Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and trauma-informed care.

The event was coordinated by Anthony Mediati and Jed Townsin, who brought together NDIS professionals from across Queensland for a day of practical learning and networking.

What We Learned

PJ’s presentation on Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) highlighted how understanding behaviour starts with empathy — looking beyond the surface to recognise the unmet needs, environmental triggers, and communication barriers that often drive challenging behaviours.

She shared real-world strategies for building resilience, improving communication, and creating safer, more consistent environments for participants. We also explored how PBS plans can help reduce restrictive practices, improve relationships, and increase independence and quality of life — all through evidence-based approaches

Why Positive Behaviour Support Matters

Positive Behaviour Support empowers participants and their support networks with practical tools — helping them manage complex behaviours while promoting dignity, safety, and confidence.
It’s not about “fixing” someone; it’s about supporting the whole person to thrive.

At ProCare Solution, we’re committed to integrating these principles across all areas of our work. That means collaborating closely with PBS practitioners, clinicians, and families to ensure that every support plan is both compassionate and effective.

Our Ongoing Commitment

This workshop reinforced our belief that continuous professional development is essential to delivering world-class care. We’re proud to partner and learn from organisations like Ability Action Australia, whose dedication to evidence-based practice helps lift the standard of care for everyone in the NDIS.

A heartfelt thank-you to PJ Caskey for her thoughtful, engaging presentation — and to Anthony Mediati and Jed Townsin for organising such a valuable event.
